College of Business Administration

Position

The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites nominations and applications for a non-tenure track, twelve-month administrative faculty position as Director of Information Systems for the College of Business Administration. The Director is responsible for the development, maintenance and installation of the College's computer networks and is responsible for all computer equipment and software property of the College. In addition to teaching classes in the College, the Director serves as the technical consultant for the faculty. The Director is expected to work closely with the University's Computer and Network Services unit and other Network Administrators on campus to facilitate electronic integration of the Business Administration Building into the University environment. The Director supervises the professional and administrative staff of the College's Office of Network Support.

The appointment is available beginning April 1, 2008. The search will remain open until filled.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a Masters Degree or Doctorate in a business related field and must qualify for a faculty appointment in business. Professional certificates in information systems and technology are a plus.

The Director should be able to demonstrate technical skills in computer programming, local area network installation and microcomputer hardware troubleshooting and maintenance. The position requires extensive knowledge of the Microsoft Windows 2003 server environment and core desktop applications. The candidate should have a working knowledge of network topologies and familiarity with a wide variety of software applications used by faculty, staff and students.

The Director should have experience in both budgeting and purchasing procedures.

The College of Business Administration is AACSB accredited and is ranked among the top ten percent of U.S. undergraduate business programs. Barron's rates the University's admissions as the most competitive in Alabama. The College has approximately 40 full-time faculty, 35 research, adjunct and part-time faculty, 1,000 undergraduate majors, and 200 master's students. Undergraduate degrees are offered in management, marketing, accounting, finance and MIS. Graduate programs include a Master of Business Administration (MBA), MS in Accounting, MS in MIS and a certificate program in information assurance and cybersecurity. The business college is also the home for the three research centers with 35 research faculty and professionals. The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAHuntsville) is a research intensive institution located in the second largest university research park in the country and in one of the nation's major international centers for advanced technological research. The Huntsville metropolitan area is a culturally diverse high technology community with a population of about 365,000.
